Maurizio Cirillo

born 1987 in Vienna, lives and works in Vienna

Maurizio Cirillo’s work is based on the subjective experience of travelling – mostly by foot or by bicycle, he ranges through various areas in Europe. His medium is the Performance. He documents photographically, records experiences with video, takes notes in his notebook and makes sketches. In exhibitions, he combines the collected material into larger collages or tableaux, which are expanded into expansive installations. These reflect – oscillating between private records and everyday life, between documentation and fiction – on the here and now as well as on current socio-political issues.
